Stevie Chow (b. 1991, Calgary, Canada) is a Canadian artist based in London. Stevie’s paintings often begin with images pulled from everyday digital life: screenshots, phone photographs, cropped details, saved fragments, and things that were not necessarily meant to become paintings. Through direct transfer, inkjet processes, and worked surfaces on canvas, the image is carried into a space between photograph and painting.
Stevie completed graduate study in Painting at the Royal College of Art, after earlier years in engineering and music. In parallel with the studio work, Stevie has built un.shaped, a growing project shaped by a similar concern: how digital enmeshment influences attention, focus, and the ability to remain present for the small, in-between moments of a life. Its guided journal, 200 Things To Do Alone: to remember who you are, has reached an international audience, with copies now shipped across nearly every continent.
In both practices, Stevie is drawn to how image culture influences perception, value hierarchies, and the way we engage with everyday life.
