Adam Frederickson

Adam Frederickson is a predominantly self-taught artist, working out of 401 1/2 Studios since June 2025.

Although the work he produces differs considerably in terms of technique, style, and medium, certain themes consistently underpin his creative process, in particular:

  • Art as inspired by philosophy, especially existential theory
  • His admiration for abstract and early modernist art
  • Trying to create sculptural form and physicality, even in two-dimensional work
  • Producing work that uses objects recycled both from nature and human activity

His most recent work, “Abstractionista”, uses a series of motifs inspired by camouflage painting techniques (as seen on naval warships) that the artist then incorporates into precisely cut and partly painted paper collages. The collages are then hung individually, as triptychs, more frequently in large groups to create larger-scale works, or sometimes incorporated into sculptures.
